Christmas Light Installation in Broken Arrow, OK
Black Dog Christmas Lights is a family-owned Christmas light hanging service based in Broken Arrow and serving the Tulsa area. We design the display, supply the lights, hang everything, fix anything that goes out during the season, and take it all down by January 15. If you live in Broken Arrow, Bixby, Jenks, Coweta or Tulsa, we'd love to light your house.
What's included in our Christmas light installation?
Every install comes with the whole package, so there's nothing to add at checkout. You get a free custom design of your house before you commit to anything, and commercial-grade C9 LED lights that we measure and cut to fit your roofline. Our family hangs everything with clips instead of nails. Service calls through the season are free, and if something goes dark we'll have it back on by the next evening. When the season's over, we take everything down by January 15 on a day you choose, then label your lights and store them in a bin with your name on it until next year.
What can you light?
Most people start with the roofline, peaks and gutters, since that's what you see from the street. From there we can add windows, trees, bushes, walkways and driveways, plus wreaths and garland around the front door. Your mockup shows exactly what we're planning before anything goes up, so there are no surprises on install day.
What kind of Christmas lights do you use?
We use commercial-grade C9 LED bulbs with faceted lenses, the same kind professional installers use. The facets catch and scatter the light, so each bulb sparkles from the street instead of looking flat, and the LEDs last for multiple seasons.
Every strand runs on green SPT-2 wire. The green blends into rooflines, gutters and trees during the day, and the wire has thicker insulation than the thinner SPT-1 wire on most store-bought lights. It holds up better to Oklahoma wind, ice and summer storage, and it's a big part of why your display stays lit all season.
What colors and patterns can I choose?
Any color or pattern you want. Warm white, cool white, multicolor, red and white, red and green, or a custom pattern you've had in your head for years. You can mix them too, like classic warm white along the roofline with multicolor in the trees. We'll show your choices in your mockup, so you can see a couple of options on your actual house before you decide.
How much does Christmas light installation cost in Broken Arrow?
We quote every house individually, because the size and shape of your home change the price more than anything else. Send us a photo and you'll get a fixed price along with your free design within one business day.
The biggest factors are how many feet of roofline and gutter we're lighting, how tall the house is, and how many extras you add, like trees or walkways. A single-story ranch with a simple roofline will cost less than a two-story with several peaks. Returning customers pay less every year after the first, since your lights are already measured and cut to fit.

Is it worth hiring someone to hang Christmas lights?
For most families, yes, especially on a two-story house or a roof with steep pitches. Professional installation keeps you off the ladder, which matters more than people think, and the lights look cleaner because they're cut to fit instead of bunched up or stretched across corners. You also skip the part nobody enjoys: untangling strands in November, chasing dead bulbs in December, and climbing back up in January when it's cold.
Do you take down and store the lights?
Yes, takedown and storage are included in every install. Every house is dark by January 15, and you pick the day that works for you. We take everything down, check it over, label it and pack it in a bin with your name on it. Next season, your lights are already cut to size and ready to go back up.
What happens if a bulb goes out?
Text a photo to 918-818-7366. We reply the same day and have your house lit again by the next evening. Service calls are free all season, no matter how many times something needs attention.
Where do you install Christmas lights?
We install Christmas lights for homes across the Tulsa area, including Broken Arrow, Bixby, Jenks, Coweta and Tulsa. Our family lives in Broken Arrow, so we're never more than a short drive away when something needs fixing. If you're just outside those towns, send a photo anyway and we'll let you know.
Christmas light installation FAQ
Your house and roof
Can you hang Christmas lights on stucco?
Yes. Stucco cracks easily, so we never drill or nail into it. We use clips and fasteners made for stucco surfaces and attach to the roofline or gutters wherever we can, which keeps the wall itself untouched.
Can you hang Christmas lights on brick?
Yes. On brick we use hot glue instead of clips, nails or drilling, so nothing goes into the brick or mortar. It holds through the season and peels off when the lights come down.
Can you hang Christmas lights if I have gutter guards?
Yes. Gutter guards make it harder to use standard gutter clips, which is where a lot of DIY setups go wrong. When a house has gutter guards, we clip the lights to the shingles instead, so the guards stay in place and keep doing their job.
How do you hang Christmas lights without nails?
Every light on a Black Dog house goes up with clips, or hot glue on brick. Nails and staples leave holes in shingles, fascia and gutters, and those holes let water in long after the lights come down. Clips and glue hold just as well and leave nothing behind.
Will the installation damage my roof?
No. Jordan works construction full time and is OSHA 30 trained, so he knows what a roof can and can't take. We walk carefully, use clips instead of nails, and leave your shingles and gutters the way we found them.
Do I need an outdoor outlet?
Yes, we need at least one working outdoor outlet to power the display. If your house doesn't have one close to where the lights will go, tell us when you send your photo and we'll plan around it.
The lights
What Christmas lights do professional installers use?
Most professional installers use commercial-grade C9 LED bulbs, and we use faceted C9s on SPT-2 wire. They're bigger and brighter than the mini lights sold in stores, the thicker wire holds up to Oklahoma wind and cold, and they use a fraction of the electricity older incandescent bulbs did.
Should I choose warm white or cool white Christmas lights?
Warm white gives off the soft, golden glow most people picture when they think of classic Christmas lights, and it looks great on brick and traditional homes. Cool white is crisp and bright with a slight blue tint, which suits modern homes and an icy, wintry look. If you can't decide, we'll show both on your house in your mockup.
Can I mix colors?
Yes. A lot of our customers do warm white on the roofline and color in the trees or bushes. Tell us what you're picturing and we'll design around it.
What's the difference between C9 and C7 Christmas lights?
C9 bulbs are about an inch and a quarter long and bright enough to read clearly from the street, which is why they're the standard choice for rooflines. C7 bulbs are smaller and softer, and they work better on bushes, railings or close-up details. We use C9s on rooflines and may mix in smaller lights where they look better.
Are LED Christmas lights better than incandescent?
For outdoor displays, yes. LEDs use far less electricity, stay cool to the touch, last for years and hold their color better. Commercial-grade LEDs are also sealed better against rain and ice than most store-bought strands.
How much electricity do Christmas lights use?
Much less than most people expect with LEDs. A typical LED roofline display adds only a small amount to your monthly electric bill, a fraction of what the same display would cost with old incandescent bulbs.
Can you hang lights I already own?
No. Every light on a Black Dog house is a Black Dog light. That's what lets us promise fast, free repairs, since we know exactly what's on your roof and have replacements ready.
How do the lights turn on and off?
We don't install timers. Your display plugs into an outdoor outlet, so you can turn it on and off yourself, or add an outdoor timer or smart plug if you'd like it on a schedule.
Do I buy the lights, or do you rent them?
Neither, really. Black Dog owns the lights, and they're included in your installation price. We cut them to fit your house, maintain them all season and store them for you, so there's nothing to buy, rent or replace on your end.
Timing
When should I book Christmas light installation?
As early as you can, ideally in October. We limit how many homes we take each season so we can keep our next-evening repair promise, and the calendar fills up fast once November starts.
When should Christmas lights go up?
Most families in the Broken Arrow and Tulsa area like their lights up by Thanksgiving weekend, and some want them lit in early November. We install from September 1 through early December, so you can pick whatever timing you like, and the lights don't have to be turned on until you're ready.
How long does installation take?
Most homes take a few hours, depending on the size of the house and how much we're lighting. You don't need to be home, and we'll text you when we're finished.
When should Christmas lights come down?
Most people take their lights down in the first two weeks of January. Every Black Dog house is dark by January 15, and you choose the day.
Do I need to be home for the install?
No. We just need access to your yard and an outdoor outlet. Most customers aren't home during the install and come home to a finished house.
Weather and repairs
What happens if wind or an ice storm knocks my lights loose?
Text us a photo and we'll come fix it. Oklahoma weather is rough on lights, which is exactly why repairs are free all season and why we promise to have you lit again by the next evening.
What happens if a bulb goes out?
Text a photo to 918-818-7366. We'll reply the same day and have your lights back on by the next evening, at no charge.
Working with us
Are you insured?
Yes. Black Dog Christmas Lights is fully insured, and every install is led by an OSHA 30 trained builder.
Do you work with HOAs?
Yes. Let us know your HOA's rules on colors, timing or placement when you request a mockup, and we'll design within them.
Do you install permanent Christmas lights?
Not right now. We focus on seasonal installs that go up for the holidays and come down by January 15. If you're interested in permanent lighting down the road, mention it when you contact us and we'll let you know if we add it.
Do you light businesses?
For now we focus on homes in Broken Arrow, Bixby, Jenks, Coweta and Tulsa.
Should I tip Christmas light installers?
Tipping is never expected. If you'd like to say thanks, an honest Google review means more to a family business like ours than anything else.
How do I pay?
You pay a deposit when you approve your design, and the balance after install. We take all the usual ways to pay, including card, cash, check, Venmo and Zelle.
How much does it cost?
Every house is quoted individually, based on its size and how much you want lit. Send us a photo and you'll have a free design and a fixed price within one business day.
